6 best places to spend New Year in the UK

A little delayed as I forgot to put this up here with all the Christmas craziness but better late than never – my new article for the National Student! All of these places are still amazing to visit year round, or you know, you can always start planning next New Year’s early. Here’s an excerpt:

“Christmas is almost upon us so it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to ring in the New Year. Luckily, you don’t need to go far or spend big to have a fantastic New Year’s Eve, as the UK has some of the best celebrations and destinations in the world, whether you want to start 2018 raging or relaxing. London will always be close to our hearts but there are so many other places in the UK to have an incredible New Year’s Eve worth noting.

Here are some of the most weird and wonderful New Year’s destinations:

  1. Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital comes to life at this magical time of year with Hogmanay, a three-day celebration from the 30th December to the 1st January. Bundle up, wander the city’s streets in full festive swing and enjoy the many events, from the torchlight procession to the New Year’s Eve ‘Concert in the Garden’ (headlined this year by Lily Allen)…”

1. Huayllay stone forest

In the open Peruvian fields of the Huayllay National Sanctuary, you can find a forest of stone, towering pillars rising impossibly into the sky. These incredible formations have existed for thousands and thousands of years and now host rock-climbers and visitors alike who come to bask in this otherworldly landscape…”
