When it comes to beauty and skin products, I like to keep my daily routine nice and simple (especially as I am a cross between a robot and a zombie in the mornings). I’ve also learnt from experience that when you bombard your pores with too many different products or are inconsistent with your beauty routine, your skin usually suffers. I am definitely not a beauty expert by any means, but I’ve been loving fellow bloggers’ posts sharing their beauty essentials so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon:
Aveeno Skin Relief Lotion – Shea Butter
This moisturising lotion from Aveeno is my god-sent especially because I have dry, sensitive skin. It isn’t greasy at all and it keeps my skin moisturised all day. I use it on my face twice a day, in the morning and before I go to bed, and on my legs after I shave. You can find it at many stores but I buy it in-store at Boots.
Origins’ Modern Friction
I discovered Origins a few months ago and I am now obsessed with their products; they are responsibly sourced, gentle on the skin and so effective. Origins dub their Modern Friction as “nature’s gentle dermabrasion” and it definitely lives up to the name. It is the best facial scrub/wash I have ever used. It is soft and creamy, exfoliating without being rough, and it leaves my skin incredibly smooth. I use it two or three times a week as part of my night time routine before I go to bed.
(Origins don’t use parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, PABA, petroleum, paraffin, synthetic fragrance or animal ingredients in their products)
Origins Mix & Mask
Because I liked Origins’ Modern Friction so much I recently picked up their ‘Mix & Mask’ set. I wanted to try Origins face masks but I wasn’t sure which one to choose, which is why Mix & Mask is perfect (and only £15)! It contains six 10ml pods of all their different masks. They say each pod is one use but I’ve gotten 3-4 uses out of one pod. You can use one mask on your whole face or different masks on different parts of your face. My favourite is ‘Original Skin’ retexturizing mask with rose clay. I use it once or twice a week as a special treat for my skin. I buy my Origins products in-store at House of Fraser.
Clinique Superbalanced Makeup
I have been using Clinique foundation for years and I absolutely love it. I used their anti-spot foundation for a while but I’ve switched to their Superbalanced foundation, which I prefer. It is lightweight and moisturising, it doesn’t dry out or irritate my skin and has a smooth, even finish (plus SPF which is so important).
Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara
Fun fact about me, I have the teeniest, tiniest eyelashes, but you would never know it with Clinique’s waterproof mascara. It makes my eyelashes look long and full, it doesn’t get clumpy and it stays on all day with no smudging! I usually buy my Clinique products in-store at Boots.
L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover
Total Cover is actually a super durable long wear foundation but I use it as my concealer because the coverage is so good. It is lightweight and super easy to blend, covering literally any spot or blemish.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick
I have been using this brand of L’Oreal lipstick for years because they have such lovely colours for everyday wear, and they are perfectly smooth and moisturising. I like to change up my colours but currently, my favourite is ‘Nature’s Blush’. I get my L’Oreal products at Boots.
Boots Botanics Nourishing Facial Oil
I used to be really sceptical about the benefits of facial oil but then a friend told me how much it helped her skin so I picked up Boots’ Nourishing Facial Oil from their new Botanics line. Now it is one of my essentials and I put it on my face every evening, 2 or 3 drops which I massage into my skin after I wash my face and before I put on my moisturiser. It is 100% organic with rosehip oil which smells lovely, and it rejuvenates my skin without making it greasy.
Taylor’s 32 Natural Whitening Toothpaste
A few years ago I tried natural toothpaste for the first time, but it was a brand that didn’t have fluoride and with my sensitive teeth I ended up getting a cavity because of it, so I went back to regular toothpaste. Then last week I was in Wholefoods in London and I discovered Taylor’s 32 (I think they also sell it at Waitrose), an awesome natural toothpaste which has fluoride!
I really like their grapefruit and mint flavour (but they have a range of flavours). Bonus, Taylor’s 32 toothpaste is free from SLS and artificial preservatives, sweeteners and abrasives, plus it is enriched with antioxidant vitamin E, what’s not to love!
