25 facts about me

For those of you who don’t know me, and even for those who do, I thought I’d share 25 odd (and maybe a bit pointless, but hopefully fun) facts about me so you know a bit more about this stranger talking to you across the ether: 

1. I have a lot of plant babies (mostly succulents) and I’ve named them all

2. My hair is naturally curly, but I straightened it every day for 3 years from 12-15

3. I am terrible at organised sports, but I love rock climbing, hiking, skiing

4. I’m a sucker for fairy lights, a fluffy blanket and a good book

5. Half of the time I bake I eat more of the batter than the finished product (and often bake specifically so I can eat the batter)

6. When I was little and went swimming in a pool or the sea I’d pretend I was a mermaid (often still do)

7. Bumble bees are my favourite animal

8. I have never gone into a bookstore and bought nothing

9. I’ve been keeping a journal since I was 7 years old

10. My sense of humour is 50% dirty old man and 50% five-year-old child

11. The only food/condiment I truly loathe is mayonnaise

12. I’ve lived in England since I was 8 (13 years) yet I have almost no trace of an English accent

13. I have a bad habit of cracking my fingers and my neck

14. I love watching TED talks about space, theoretical physics and alternate realities

15. I’ve travelled to 40 countries and lived in 3 (USA, England + Singapore)

16. I love thunderstorms and the sound of loud rain on roofs

17. One of my favourite movies is ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’

18. I have a large collection of mugs, none of them matching

19. Tequila shots are my go-to party poison

20. I’m a night owl

21. After I finish university I want to go live in Vancouver, Canada (though who knows where the wind will blow me)

22.  I am a complete sci-fi nerd, even though you wouldn’t guess it

23. I love the sea and the mountains equally and one day want to live somewhere that has both

24. I have a habit of inexplicably changing from hating to loving a food/drink overnight (guacamole, red wine, hot sauce)

25. I still believe in magic
